comfort zone and success are not made for each other

Trying something new for the first time is never easy; at least for most people it isn’t, for this very reason, we try our best to avoid taking risks. As humans, we are comfortable not taking risks because of fear for what’s in front of us. This brings us to the topic “comfort zone and success are not made for each other.”

The best achievement in life comes from situations that stretches you, challenge you and brings out the very best of your potentials. When you look back at these high rewarding situations, you’ll notice this were not easy times. This took the hell out of you, made you vulnerable to failure, exhausted you several times and yet still came out triumphant.

The reality is that “comfort doesn’t guarantee you success, but success guarantees you comfort,” you need to step out of your comfort zone to get a shot at success. Stepping  out of your comfort zone entails that you make yourself vulnerable to whatever outcome, learning new skills, expanding your current capability, working on opportunities beyond your call of duty, the journey to success will make you uncomfortable, but that’s the only way to keep pushing your limits and achieving new milestone.

Getting out of your comfort zone from time to time creates just enough good stress to ramp up your focus, creativity, pace and drive, and it helps you respond to life stress when unexpected things happens. Comfort zone prevents you from improving; it prevents you from tapping from your inner-most potentials – keeping you at a stagnant situation or perhaps position. Either way, comfort kills your drive and momentum.

Just like a young eaglet in its nest, sitting comfortably waiting for it mother to return with food. The nest is its’ comfort zone, if the eaglet remains in the nest, it may never learn how to fly. The nest is keeping the eaglet away from soaring in the skies; as it was born to do. Likewise, your comfort zone will keep you from actualizing your full potentials – an infant is always comfortable with crawling, but has to leaving that comfort zone to learn how to walk.

All development comes from outside your comfort zone, especially from failures. “We are all failures; at least the best of us did fail, but learnt from it.” Expand yourself; take yourself out of your comfort zone. Do not live within your bubble; put some more air in your bubble. If you stay in your comfort zone, that’s where you will fail. Success is not a comfortable procedure; it is a very uncomfortable thing to attempt. You have to get comfortable being uncomfortable if you ever want to be successful.

Change makes you uncomfortable, but the catchphrase, ‘change is the only constant’ holds true. To grow in life you need to embrace change. At first, that change may scare you, but if you feel strongly to chase a dream and change things drastically in life, go for it. Comfort helps reduce stress and gives you time to process your next move, but don’t get too comfortable, it kills dreams.
