separation exposes you to the possibility of elevation
There is every truth in the saying – you are the average of
five people you spend the most time with. You want to be successful; you have
strong desires to do better, to improve in every aspect of your life. Take a
look at the people you surround yourself with, being around people who believes
in you, people who are aware of your potentials and capabilities can make a
huge differences in your life. You have every reason to surround yourself with
people that reflect who you want to be.
Separation from our old selves, old lives and old habits is
not always easy but necessary. In order for you to reach your next level, you
often have to get your heart and mind ready for separation. And this is one of
the problems with this generation, we do not like separation – we don’t know
how to leave things behind, leave lower level thinking behind, leave old
relationships behind and walk up into our future. Separation is a part of
elevation, you will always have to let go of something or loss something to be
able to reach the next level – you have got to drop some weight and move
forward.
Elevation begins with separation – when you throw a stone,
before that stone will elevate, it must firstly separate from our hands. If the
stone doesn’t get separated from your hands, it won’t progress. That’s how
separation works; detaching yourself from one point to get to another point in
life. Separation is part of the natural order of life; a young bird leaving it
nest, a man separating from his parents to start his own family and so on. And
also essential in scientific phenomenon – when a rocket is been launched, at mid-air
it will need to separate with some part of itself in other to reach space. In order
to move up, you will have to move away – mostly from something or someone.
Even in the bible, it is evidence that separation is the
initial step towards being blessed. When God wanted to bless Abraham, he said
to Abraham “leave your father’s house and go to a land that I will show you,”
leaving his father’s house meant separating himself from his family, his
friends and relations in order to get God’s blessings. You get the call to
separate from certain things or break certain bonds when God wants to bless. The
book of Hebrews tells us “we need to lay aside every weight” and sin, but take
a look at the verse, the first thing it says is ‘the weights’, separate from
the weights stopping you from elevating and moving forward.
There are cases where you set out to start as a group; starting
a business with friends, study groups in school or maybe a causal relationship.
Whichever, there is a limit and difference to individual capabilities, when the
time comes where your current ‘click’ have nothing else to contribute or add to
your life – regardless of the fact that you all started off together. You
should make every effort to separate and move on. We all have different level
of success to achieve, because your friends have gotten to theirs’ doesn’t mean
you have also reached your level of success, move away and attain more height.
With that been said, I will like to conclude with a Tony Gaskins quote “not
everyone who started with you will finish with you, be willing to go without
them if you have to.”
