commitment and what it entails
What is commitment?
When you hear the word commitment what comes to your mind? What does it really mean to be committed to something or someone?
Well according to the dictionary, commitment can be defined as the dedication to a cause or policy. Commitment can also serve as a promise made to someone or a cause that restricts your freedom to action, to be committed to something means you giving it all you have including your body, mind, and soul. A banker committed to his job cannot leave his bank job for something else, a good Christian cannot desist from his or her good moral values because of the commitment given to his faith, likewise a good Muslim.
Being committed to something comes with its ups and down which I will explain.
What are the importance of being committed?
Firstly is having a goal, goals provides us with a target and a direction, when we set a target in life we tend to work towards it and try to achieve our said target. There is a popular saying "if you can think it you can achieve it", setting a target is like having a dream, you actualize it, you don't just dream and sit back waiting for it to happen, you go for it. To attain certain height in life then you must take certain steps, steps that are of good moral values to yourself and the society.
Also to bring out the best in you, when you are committed to something it tends to give you the enthusiasm, the drive to work towards that thing and improve greatly. In most cases it means doing the same thing over and over again patiently for the betterment of others. For instance, take the charity workers as a case study, if they are not committed with what they do, then what good will they be doing in the life of the people the are actually helping, it takes commitment to do all that.
The down side of being committed is that it takes absolutely all of you to the point where you don't have anything left to offer yourself or your family. For someone who is committed either to his job, faith, obligations, etc, what will be left of him will be nothing to write home about.
A committed person gives his all to the cause Mentally, physically, emotionally, and so on, making it difficult for him to relate with the outside world.
