Corona virus or (COVID-19), as it is often called, is a global pandemic which causes respiratory and breathing disorder. Compared to other viruses like Ebola and HIV/AIDS virus, corona virus is on a different level in the sense that it has caused a global lockdown across different countries in the world. The virus which was first discovered in Wuhan area of china has somehow managed to spread across different continents including Europe, Africa, and America.

Since the outbreak of the Covid-19, the economy of most developed countries like Italy, USA, France, Spain, Germany, and so on, has crumbled. With the world going into economic recession as a result of the outbreak with oil prices steady going down, stock markets in panic mode and the whole world left in chaos. Most of the world’s richest men are expected to lose a huge amount of money due to the instability in the world’s economy.

The Corona virus which has no regard for profession, color, age, height or wealth has successfully infected some popular names from different walks of life. Just recently, British actor and singer Idris Elba posted a video on twitter stating that he tested positive for COVID-19, American actor Tom Hank and his wife Rita also tested positive for the virus. With some footballers like Callum Hudson-Odoi, Danielle Rugani, Gabbiadini, and Arsenal’s head coach Mikel Arteta with a host of political dignitaries like the wife of Canadian prime minister, Sophie Trudeau are also a victim of this deadly virus and so are some top Iranian officials.

Most countries have adopted the survival mentality, as there have been a total of over 334,981 confirmed cases and over 14,652 confirmed deaths around the world, with Italy being the most affected country with more than 15,113 confirmed cases and death tolls as high as 1,016 surpassing China as the worst hit. Other Europeans countries like United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Portugal, and Bulgaria have placed a lockdown on their countries, ordering public places like schools, churches, nightclubs and so on, to be closed temporarily. Sporting activities has been postponed worldwide after series of behind-closed-door matches. UEFA has also postponed champions’ league and Europa league indefinitely, throwing this summer’s EURO 2020 into complete turmoil.

People who are 60 and above, or living with underlying illness are at risk of being drastically affected by the COVID-19, and sometimes may result to death. People with strong immune system have a higher chance of surviving this attack, as they will show the symptoms as first, after which they’ll recover due to the resistance of their strong immune system.

The world has been thrown into chaos and sadly, it involves everybody irrespective of social class and status. There is currently no known cure for this dreadfully virus, but preventive measures such as; use of hand sanitizers, washing of hands regularly with soap and water, and social distancing are being implemented to help curb the spread of the virus. It is strongly advisable for everyone to follow guidelines from health agencies and W.H.O. and hopefully, we’ll be able to defeat and eradicate the world of this global threat called COVID-19.
