decision making is part of our daily life

The most interesting thing about life is our freedom to making decisions, we get to choose when to act and when not to. These decisions we make can affect us greatly; both positively and negatively. The decision making starts from as soon as we wake – from deciding to take a bath, deciding to eat, deciding what to wear and so on. Every decision matters, even small decisions can change our lives; every action we take is a decision not to take another. Every single decision we made in the past, helped shape our lives up till this very day.

There is always a chain of events associated with everything that we do; this chain of events will greatly determine our decisions. The bigger the decision, the more life changing the chain of events will be. Take for instance, the decision to get married or who you get married to – after this decision has been made, there is no going back. Other decision may seem small or insignificant, but in the long run may be the decision that determines the outcome of our lives.

Decision making is a huge part of humanity; it can either propel you forward and into success or drag you backwards and maybe destroy your personal values. Each decision we make, either good or bad, are part of the maturity process. The worst thing a person can do is not to make decisions, because the regret of not having to have decided will torment you. Constantly making decisions will boost our mental development and sense of judgment, making us more independent on ourselves and self-reliance. The obvious difference between a child and an adult is the ability of an adult to be more diverse and clinical in making decisions. A child makes decisions based on wants, but a good decision should be based on necessity.

There are so many factors that affects decision making; such as emotions, peer pressure, finance and so on. These factors may alter our decisions, making us do things we normally wouldn’t do. For instance, a good kid who under normal circumstances wouldn’t steal, very honest to the cord that the said kid won’t even fathom the thought of stealing, but due to pressure from friends and peer groups, indulges in the act. What can be said of the child’s decision to steal? What prompted the thought which lead to the action of stealing? Whatever the reasons may be, the known fact is, that child’s decision has been clouded – make no mistake, adult also fall under this table.

The decision we make shapes us and reflects in our personality, it builds us into who we are and guides us to who we want to become. Making carelessly wrong decisions doesn’t necessarily mean you’re bad, but making selfish, self-centered decisions, speaks low of your personality. Decisions are made to favor everyone involved, and not to single out anyone. Being wise is a decision and being foolish is also a decision, it’s your responsibility to decide which you want to become.
